It was way back in September 1985 that an informal group of amateur naturalists got together to initiate a programme to sensitize the citizens towards nature and environment. They called themselves AHMEDABAD NATURE LOVERS' ASSOCIATION. Popularly known as ANALA, this group became synonymous with nature camping in later years. Conservation through environment education became the motto of this committed group of volunteers.
At the core of ANALA's activities there has always been a team of volunteers coming from different walks of life, representing different parts of Gujarat. They have been successful in taking the message of environment protection to far flung towns, schools and individuals. Though their background and professions differ - doctors, lawyers, businessmen, engineers, chartered accountants, educationists – they all dream of a greener earth.
Anala's high quality equipment and infrastructure are backed by a strong team of trained and experienced human resource. There are qualified persons to take care of the major areas of functioning like natural history, interpretation, adventure activities, infrastructure, hospitality and catering. A team of 14 permanent staff members is supported by another team of volunteers, well-trained in conducting and supervising outdoor experiential learning camps.
All the outdoor-based camping programmes of ANALA are conducted broadly with the following objectives:
If we tell the students/participants something, they will forget…if we show them they may not remember but if we involve them they will definitely understand.
Our efforts are aimed at our young generation getting educated and encouraged to protect and preserve our plants and animals, their habitats and the natural processes, by which we all live and thrive. We would be more successful, if more and more parents, educators and volunteers join hands with us in making the world a better place to live in.
